Broke it trucking a 6 foot drop. Landed a little bit leaning back. I remember you guys saying that you wanted to know if anything broke and how, so here. If you make a v3 smx, this is the spot where they seem to break (Right at the top of the headtube)... I'm lucky it wasnt on a stairset, thank god.

Looks like it broke right on the other side of the integrated starnut...which kinda stops in a bad spot.
It would be better if they would make that integrated star nut piece a little longer/deeper into the fork tube so it stops somewhere in the headtube between the bearings.
But then again I hit 7+ stair sets on a regular basis and have never bent a Vertx SMX. Id say they are pretty damn strong.

That looks cut.

Where?
Oh I see, it's not, it just snapped there, woulda probably come off if my compression wasnt there.

They are pretty damn strong, and I'm getting another one hopefully. The starnut is in the headtube, it broke right in the most vulnerable spot on the fork, inbetween the headtube and the scs, where a lot of pressure is put, especially because of how I landed. And yeah, I hit 9+ sets A LOT, like, at least once or twice a week, and ive had it for 7 months. Strong.

Yeah... Vertx forks are very good but could be so much better. I think it is dumb how it is only about 1/8 of inch thick at the top where a fork is most likely to bend. It also gets thicker as it goes down... Forks are most likely to bend at the top not at the bottom. It would be a lot better if the "Threaded-In starnut" was thinner and the wall was thicker it would be tons better. Also, the idea of of it getting thicker as it goes down is also bad. the fork is most likely to bend at the top not the bottom where it is thicker. If it was the opposite they would be a lot better. I'm not hating, I love my Vertx Forks, I think it would just be a lot better.

Yeah, I actually think they should make it thinner where its inside the headtube. Because that would make that weaker. But if they did it right, there would be no weak point, it would just spread the stress evenly.

damn dude you need to calm down and stop being so mean. in the first pic it kinda does look like it was cut with a hacksaw.

Yeah, I know. I was pissed though.

They're usually all over the forums looking at this kind of stuff so they probably will see it.

Yeah, I really hope they take this as feedback to improve it, definetly the best looking fork IMO, the design is strong as hell too. Also, I'm sorry for PMS'ing on you hahaha, I was just pissed because I was having a good sesh, I actually LANDED the trick, and it snapped on me.
