i wouldnt label myself a dead head, but i enjoy them. they were definetly pioneers, and if an ben & jerry's ice cream makes a flavor after your lead guitarist, thats pretty cool too.

oh, and my late uncle had a Dead tattoo. the dancing bears holding hands around his ankle.

honestly, i don't think they were that good.

i think where they experimentation with lsd and the acid tests in the 60's is a hell of a lot more significant than their music and i've got a lot of respect for that, but that seems like a topic that would be frowned upon here.

none of you could be dead heads, b/c none of you were alive to ever see the greatful dead in a concert let a lone follow them.
obnoxious technicality, anyway

i think their music is really relaxed and nice and i feel like sleeping or smelling flowers and i often hum suger magnolia when i am in the woods
considering the music gives me those feelings and probably are feelings they would have liked to portray, i would consider them a talented band.

didnt the beatles do a similar thing? before lsd, they were a boy band. their true expressions came out post-acid. the difference between the beatles and the dead, is that the beatles went more mainstream with it, and the dead didnt. the dead didnt care about money, and sales and all that. they were strictly about the music.

and they were that good. jerry garcia is in the top 10 rock guitarists ever, and every other member of the group had tremendous abilities. their talent would have remained, the acid merely steered their talent in a different direction, producing a different type of music

2 year bump, get over it.

I have been in a Dead trance lately, they're excellent. Some of their music is a little...odd/boring if you'd like to say, but the way they came about and their impact from and exploration of LSD and other drugs fascinates me, and just adds to the overall greatness of them, atleast to me. Everyone should give them a chance.
