barrends

There's little screws that compress against the bar. No need to make a hole in them, they pinch against the crossbar.

if you care about not getting holes in your stomach because of falling on your bars, then just use barends. Otherwise, suit yourself.

if your crossbar is solid then why would you even want barends but then again why would it even be soid in the first place?

i still dont see why aluminum is a reason for them to be solid. i have plenty of aluminum mtb bars and none of them are solid lol...

Thats because they are a type of treated aluminum made specifically for bike bars. When I had buffs, my stepdad would bring me pieces of 7/8" solid alum for my cross bar. They are still very strong and when i had my grips and barends on you cant see a difference.

Personally, I think not running bar ends looks shitty, fucks up your bars, and can be dangerous.

i havent used barends in over a year and i got more hurt with bar ends then without

i dont really see how that is possible. barends not only lessen the impact of getting jabed with the end of the bar when you fall but they also prevent dirt from getting into your bars along with your fingers. i rider that i know got his finger stuck in his bar while doing a bar spin then fell with his finger still stuck in the bar and ripped it right off. he didnt get to the hospital in time for them to sow it back on and now he is missing a finger. its much better to be safe then sorry so i would advise that you always run barends.
