Competition Divisions

there are traditionally 3 divisions in comps, beginner, amateur, and professional.

ive noticed a huge gap between the am riders and pros. when you win am, you move up right? i feel like when you move up from am your not even closely in there with the pros. there needs to be a division between am and pro, advanced.

it would make more sense to have beginner, am, advanced, and pro in competitions to keep things relatively close and not have anyone just blown away by the competition in their division and discouraged from riding

what you guys think?

Ehh, I don't agree. I think the gap between beginner and am is about the same as am and pro so I think it's fair. And not to mention the people who place top 3 in am could easily compete in pro.

Actually I've seen kids win Am that would place top 10 in Pro...easy. I think more need to step up to pro, instead of continually killing it in Am.

^that would make sense, people all the time say to me "oh cool your on a pro team so you get paid?"

and i have to be like "....:("

How do you know when to move up to the next category? How long can you be a beginner.... a year? Four years? I've seen a guy compete as a beginner for 4 years, just so he can win. At what point does this guy move to intermediate??? Fair is fair, but that ain't fair.

Sorry...our 3 divisions where I live are beginner, intermediate, and advanced or pro. I was asking that question for around where I live.

yeah, ive always thought this, there really needs to be this division in my opinion

Awards and prizes for both Competitions will be in two divisions:

* Year 11 and below
* Year 12

For the small number of accelerated students who are studying Economics and/or Business Studies one year in advance of their other subjects, they must identify themselves as belonging to appropriate Economics and/or Business Studies division regardless of their actual school year.

In 2010, there were a handful of Year 10 students studying commerce who participated in the Business Studies competition. Feedback from these students suggests that the competition is also relevant to those who are considering studying the subject in their senior years. Thus, while the Business Studies Competition is not aimed at junior students, those interested are welcomed to participate.
