cutting a slit?

all i have is a hacksaw and a drill. i cant cut on just one side, so i have to cut 2 slits. i cut my buffs 2 inches shorter and there's no longer a slit, so im cutting a new one. how would i go about doing it?

i figured it out, nevermind. and yes mdemoss, oversized alu. old sr buffs.

best thing to use is a wood saww i had to cut slits a bunch
sazaw and dremels work too
