I was gonna do this and i was wondering would the back dropout be stronger if I just put the brake axle in our would it cause more stress?

it doesn't matter weather or not the brake bolt is in. And you can buy the metal anywhere. But i'd suggest buying a switchblade or a steel spring fender from phoenix or tsi (respectively)
