its scary until you hit it. start out small, but eventually it comes down to your confidence level high enough to hit the rail. once you hit it the first time and bail out, it completely eliminates how scary it was (thats for me at least)

once you try it once you won't be scared for a second, third, etc attempt.

with that being said, you want to jump extra high and figure out the part of the rail you want to hit (you're jumping out into the rail keep that in mind)

from there its just a normal boardslide.

g'luck!

try feeling it with one foot like nocomply into it, I learned on a tiny 3 stair handrail that was more trouble than it was worth, then I worked up to a 6 and now scouting 7s and8s, just work your way up

What I first did, was I would be standing still at the top of the stairset, have my one foot on my scooter, and hop on and kiss it, with one foot on my scooter. Then I would just go for it. I'm a lot better now, I hit an 8 stair rail two days ago first try, they're really easy you just gotta commit, get rid of that fear. Take a few runups, and go a little bit faster than you think you need to. But you gotta get on top of it. If you dont, your gonna eat shit. If you do, it's NEVER gonna be that bad. Once you actually go for it, ALL the fear goes away, it's wierd.

No, don't listen to him, you need to go as slow as you possibly can without clipping on the rail, the faster you go the shorter your grind will be and the better chance you have of over shooting the rail.

Dude, for the first time? Thats stupid.

I agree with you about going slow, but not for the first time. And if you go fast enough to overshoot the rail, you're retarted.

hes right. if you get on the rail and fall, it hurts alot less than if you just hit the rail and fall. but everything victor said is right except going really fast. just go a speed thats comfortable for you

Well I find that helps me, I guess most people dont do that. Although I really dont do that anymore, I just go for it.

But to the OP, you HAVE to get on top of it. If not, its sketchy, looks retarted, feels retarted, and is just gay. And is 10x scarier/harder.

Huck it. Go 100%, anything less will end up with you getting dicked and more injured than just hucking it.

Just go the speed you think you should to get on the rail, don't really worry about your speed to much. Just commit, that is the most important part. If you don't commit you will die.
