Apparently no one watched the first 3 movies they made about this man back in the early 2000's?

Its nothing new, no action will be taken because it is a sovereign nation and the rebel army actively bribes officials to look the other way. Plus its africa, that place is a cluster fuck of mines, lions, deserts, and starvation.

^no. watch it.

"but they dont do what he says because they're nice guys right?"
hearing that kid say that got me thinking. this is the honesty and courage most humans are born with, standing up for whats wrong, but the people running out society dont want that. we're taught from a young age to do what authority says even though we all know it's wrong and to mind our own business when someone else is being wronged and thats the problem with society. no one gives a shit about their fellow humans or themselves anymore.

edit: wow its all over facebook, people are really taking this seriously. do like.

Invisible Children (2003). Since then 2 other movies have been made, yet no mass media action was taken. But put a shortened, less to the point video up on Vimeo, add a few women to it, and suddenly every person in America is concerned about child soldiers.

I'm sorry, but if any of you actually were concerned about the issue, you would have paid attention when the movie was shown to us during 9th grade. Stop acting surprised and attentive to a cause that we have had the power to be involved in for years.

I love the message, although I am yet to understand the logic behind the mass panic and disruption that this video has suddenly stirred up. I give it a week until the majority of us (Americans) forget about the issue entirely when some campaign scandal occurs. Prove me wrong, that would be something new and beneficial for the world.

America is full of shallow, ADD infested, shit bags. Nothing more. Take actions on things, don't sit around waiting for change.

Honestly this is very moving, probably gonna buy the action kit and head into boston on 4/20. If your going against it at least post it somewhere like Facebook, Twitter, or Tumblr to get it recognized for those who have not yet seen it, and would like to get involved.

oh wow all this kony shit is seriously doing my head in.

Kony is a christian fundamentalist who kidnaps children for sex slaves and soldiers. problem is this was mainly happening around 2003. Some charity is using this event as a money making scheme. Everyone is making statuses about stopping Kony due to a video from 2003. He's been hiding in a hole since 2006 and is having peace talks with Ugandan president. Oh, all the neighboring countries a corrupt as fuck. I'm just saying that people shouldn't really make a big deal about it. I don't see anyone make statuses about Sudan or Rwanda.

Uganda is in a phase of rebuilding. The Kony 2012 video and Invisible Children make it seem that Joseph Kony is a monster ravaging through Northern Uganda as if he were Godzilla stomping through Tokyo. However, a quick fact check has pointed me to this: On July 8th, 2005, the International Criminal Court (ICC) named Joseph Kony the number one criminal in the world because of his crimes in Uganda. Shortly after the ICC indicted Kony, he fled Uganda and officially has been in hiding since 2006 (Source). Basically, he has since been hiding in a hole like Saddam Hussein and has approximately as much power as Saddam Hussein had while he was living in his hole, next to none. Hold that thought for later.

Invisible Children is a company that was created by a few college students who travelled to Uganda and made a movie about it. They didn’t travel there looking for a story, they had to make one up as they went. They can be best described in this quote: “Invisible Children is too late. It has taught us that MTV type media can get university students interested in a world crisis, the problem is it took too much time. Night commuting, outlined as one of the major problems in northern Uganda by the film, is practically non-existent now. Why? Peace is coming to the region.” (Source). I’ve also learned that Invisible Children Inc isn’t even accredited by the Better Business Bureau. Susan G. Komen has come under fire for recent decisions that have been made and because their CEO makes millions, regardless they’re accredited because they’re a legitimate charity that helps millions of women. Invisible Children Inc is not accredited, which tells me they may not be a real charity, and that’s a huge red flag.

also
on the entire sight
theres no charity number
so theyre not registered
so they could be doing whatever they want with the money

this is some of the info i found whilst researching, i seriously hate this bullshit

i honestly did i couldnt find it, fair enough but the rest i still stand by, also

Invisible Children is trying to make money from our ignorance based solely on the fact that they’re a relatively small organization and have avoided major public backlash and scrutiny for lying directly to us by flying just under the media radar. However, with this new Kony 2012 effort: I can almost see the future say with confidence that Invisible Children is going to come under major fire for exaggerating the facts and manipulating people in their course for making money.

I am almost a sophmore in high school and have never seen this in my life, or heard of it.

Do you go to my high school Derek Seay?

I don't think so, or else we would ride together, so you should infer that the film is not shown to every 9th grader in america.

but the rest i still stand by

well you shouldnt.

Shortly after the ICC indicted Kony, he fled Uganda and officially has been in hiding since 2006 (Source).

wrong. the army is still around meaning so is he, they're still active and theres been mass murders as recent as 2010 but of course, its a big country and they could kill 1000 people in bumblefuck with out anyone finding out. a rag tag group of random people dont just go around killing other people, they got the orders from somewhere.

another thing you're wrong about is the whole "get rich scam". they're taking 89,000 dollar salaries (the people running it). thats less than one percent of the donations. i think that's more than reasonable since this is literally those peoples lives right now and they are actually going something.

i dont think this issue is as big of a deal as other issues people need to be aware of, but im sick of people saying this is a bullshit cause and spreading mis information about it just because everyone is starting to care about it. then when people start to talk shit on a charity that theres no reason to suspect is illegitimate, thats where i cross the line. they've helped put up and run at least ten schools and set up the radio towers and the warning system. that shit isnt cheap, am i saying they arent secretly making money off it? no, but instead of just insinuating they are how about you check their financial records and find the costs of what they've done and do some math and get the real story instead of making up some lies just because you're a hipster and things that get famous very fast are bad.
and im not done, i havent even looked into most of the posts against this documentary or even the rest of your post.

for the record, i seriously can care less about this cause, yes its a bad thing but theres worse happening. i just dont like watching people treat factual information as misinformation, then make stuff up and post it as factual information.
