Lots of Questions

Hey everyone, I am new to scootering and I have a lot of questions about scooter parts and setups. I have been paying attention to threads lately but it hasn't really been helping, so I decided I need to make my own. Sorry if these questions are really easy but I really am clueless.

1. How are threaded/threadless forks, headsets, and bars related?
2. What does a compression set do?
3. How is the brass knuckle SCS from Proto different from other compression sets I have heard of?
4. What is an inverted compression set?
5. I hear a lot about TSI one piece decks but I don't know where I can get them and the website doesn't help. Why are they so good and where can I buy them?
6. What are the advantages/disadvantages of metalcores and plastic cores?
7. Is there a performance difference between sealed and unsealed headsets?
8. I see pictures of people with scooter headtubes different in color from their decks on pro models. Are these all custom painted or can I buy them?
9. Should I wait to buy new scooter parts when I break the stock parts or should I go ahead and buy nicer parts now so I don't have to worry about them in the future?
10. If I buy a threadless fork, headset, or bars do I also have to buy the other 2 threadless in order for them to be compatable?
11. If I buy one piece bars am I no longer able to adjust the bar height?
12. Are bar width and wheel size just personal preference or do they have their advantages and disadvantages?
13. When I go to scooter company websites they don't display that much info about their parts and say the info will come later on. Is scootering really that new of a sport or am I just visiting the wrong sites?
14. I see people with different colored pro model decks. Are these all custom painted or can I buy them somewhere?

I will update my post later on if I have any more questions. Thanks a ton to anyone who can answer any of these. :D

1. A stock scooter comes with a threaded fork and a threaded headset. You can use a threadless headset with a threaded fork or a threadless fork, but you can't use a threaded headset with a threadless fork. All bars work with any of these.
2. With a threadless fork, you need something to hold the headset on. A compression set pulls or clamps the bars onto the fork.
3. A brass knuckle is a more user friendly and personalised way to compress your headset.
4. The inverted compression set is the original way of compressing your headset. A starnut is installed into your bars, then a bolt is put up through the bottom of your fork with a washer or 'cap' on the end to allow the bolt to tighten, thus compressing your headset.
5. TSI decks are new on the scooting scene and have little coverage as of yet. You shouldn't be considering a TSI deck at this stage.
6. Metalcores are generally stronger than plastic cores.
7. Depends on the brand and model.
8. People spraypaint or powdercoat their own parts.
9. Stock parts are good enough for the time being. Until you have a better understanding of what aftermarket parts do, you don't need to consider them.
10. Read 1.
11. This is correct.
12. Mainly down to personal preference.
13. I assume you're referring to the Proto website or the SR store? If you want to know more about parts or anything for that matter, read the sticky threads at the top of each section.
14. Again, spraypainted or powdercoated.

You need to get a stock pro model on amazon, and go to bed lil kid.

Would you call a 6'1" 13 year old little? I don't think so. And you're, what, a year older than me? That doesn't really put you in a position to call me a "lil kid". Don't make dumb assumptions that I'm an immature little child just because I'm 13 and new to scooters. Oh, and by the way, your contribution to this thread helped everyone so much.
