Problem with SCS

So just recently I cleaned up my scs (greased the bolts, etc.)
When I was done I put everything back together my scs compression bolt would not thread into the starnut, then I realized it was stripped. I took the bolt that came with my headset and tried to use that but that would not thread in either. I re-hammered in my starnut because I thought maybe it wasn't aligned but it has worked fine before.
What is my problem and what should I do about it?

it's probably stripped, or cross threaded, get a new starnut just to be safe, cause if you get the bolt half way in and the threaded part spins from the star parts it will be suchhhh a bitch to get it out.

Get a new starnut. That's what I would say, I've never actually used a starnut, I just ran threaded, and my first threadless fork (other than my old Nitro, but that has its own little compression) was an smx v2. Great quality fork, great insert, and if you bend/break it, they will most likely send you a replacement, free of charge. My friend bent one on a 8 stair (His was older than mine, mine was, and is still fine, and I ride stuff like that all the time) and vertx sent him one for free. Vertx is legit as tits.
