^^ i can appreciate that its prog and its great talent, but i cant sit and listen to it. its too sporratic

My favorite band I think is Dream Theater, which was greatly inspired by rush to be progressive. Or so I've heard, at least. Rush is defiantly up there with my favorite artists, but I only have two of their albums.

How do people feel about progressive metal? Like Between the Buried and Me, The Human Abstract, Mastodon, and other stuff like that? It's a lot heavier than traditional progressive (which I usually like more) but sometimes it's really awesome to hear such heavy riffs and pounding beats played in odd time signatures.

listen to dream theaters first album (when dream and day unite), you can really hear the rush influence.

prog metal is amazing. i love between the buried and me

Yeah, that's a great album. My favorite song on that is Ytse Jam, just because their old singer (Charles Dommicci?) just sounds so odd, haha. My favorite album by them is either Images and Words or Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence.

I'm glad to hear that. I've tried talking to some of my friends fathers who were really into the early 80's progressive scene and, unsurprisingly, hate Prog Metal.

in my opinion, dream theater's best album is octavarium, with metropolis pt 2 close behind that
