Razor Pro XXX

Hello,

I have searched a bit but I need information specifically applying to the Razor Pro XXX. I was able to get a decent deal on this scooter but wish to upgrade it for my son, for Christmas. I spent the better part of an evening researching scooters and how they are constructed because my 11 year old son is beginning to get heavily into them. I was a flat land rider as a kid and then followed the aggressive inline movement, so I get him.

I wanted to get a threadless fork setup with a headset and clamp as well. Could you explain if I need a headset to work with an integrated deck or can I just pop everything out and put in a threadless headset, threadless fork and a clamp of my choosing. The bars for now are stock Razor bars. If he proves good I will obviously move him up to a Phoenix scooter or I'll custom build him one but for now I want him to be able to bar spin without the damn threads sticking, ect.

Thanks,

Chris

If you use the cups from a bmx bike you can run integrated headsets, which would be better in the long run as most aftermarket decks are integrated. If you dont want to risk getting the wrong sized cups and he isnt going to upgrade the deck anytime soon anyway, then go for an FSA non integrated headset or a Cane Creek non integrated headset. Just make sure they are THREADLESS if you are going to run a threadless setup.

When you buy a clamp, make sure you buy an SCS clamp not just a standard clamp, you will also need to cut the slit off the bottom of the bars to use SCS. The SCS will raise the height of the bars so they wont be any shorter but they have less chance of snapping with the slit removed.
TILT scooters make the best SCS clamps and best aluminium forks on the market, they obviously arent the cheapest fork and SCS combo but they are the best.

If you decide to go for a different fork/SCS, make sure that the fork is compatible with SCS as not every threadless fork is SCS compatible, for example the Envy IHC forks wont work with an SCS.

Get a district non integrated headset and an envy ihc fork. that would be all you need because ihc is for standard bars that have a slit so the razor bars are fine. the ihc fork is thread less. this is the best way for your needs and is also a lot cheaper then getting a scs and more expensive forks. also it is easier because you don't have to cut the bars at all.

Its cheaper but also weaker. Plus with SCS and decent forks you never have to worry about upgrading to anything ever again and can run oversized or standard bars. Envy forks are renowned for being incredibly weak and IHC is worse than ICS. District headsets suck so much and headsets arent even expensive, better to pay a little extra and get a decent one like an FSA.

HCC has it pretty much right. If you plan on switching to threadless, then you will need a 1-1/8" threadless headset. I personally recommend Cane Creek brand headsets over others, but FSA is good as well, but it can really be any brand as long as it is a 1-1/8" threadless headset. As far as forks and clamps you really have 2 good options, SCS or HIC. While IHC is technically an option, it is a very poor compression system made by a company that is not very concerned with quality. I think for you SCS would be the best because it would allow your son to keep his current bars. Tilt probably makes the best aluminum forks on the market, and they also make 2 styles of SCS you can choose from. Just make sure to cut 1.5 inches off of your sons bars before installing the SCS.
