Never do the towel trick. It just fixes it for a couple days and actually just causes more damage.

It's so much easier to just take it apart and apply some new Arctic silver 5 to the GPU and CPU and shim it up. Just fixed one last night using that method.

Not being a fanboy or anything, but PS3 failure rate is less than 1%. 360 is somewhere between like 30-40%, although these numbers are just from googling around.

Out of my friends that have 360s, like 5 out of 6 have got red rings. Out of my friends with PS3s, 1 out of 5 has had something go wrong... that was mine that my dad over heated, user at fault. Pretty sure the only thing that can happen to your PS3 is your bluray lens burning out that you can fix yourself for about $50 if you have the balls to remove a few screws and ribbon cables, but this probably won't happen to your PS3 anyway.

Anyway, just send that shit in or buy a new one, or start some shit with them over the phone and see if you can get a free fix out of it.

Truth. 360s do have an extremely high failure rate. Only reason I bought one was to play Forza 3. And the one I bought was a red ringed elite that only cost me 50 bucks. I Fixed it and now I'm all set.
