If you live in America, your expected to know english. Not spansh, I see no point in needing to learn the language.

So, your telling me, you want ME to base my future in school on a language I dont even WANT to learn? No, fuck that. School is getting more retarded every year. I don't want to learn spanish. And if I do have a job opportunity that requires me to speak spanish, I dont give a shit. They should have to learn english, hense, they are in AMERICA? So i'm gonna ruin my GPA because of a language thats not even origenated from my country. Fuck that.

I've taken spanish all through elementary, middle school, and high school. It's a part of school whether you like it or not.

More and more of the US population is becoming Mexican/Hispanic. Some legal, some not. When you're looking for a job, you have a way better chance of being hired if you can speak Spanish because a lot of customers are Hispanic/Latin/etc. Whether you like it or not, you're going to have to learn it and overall it'll be good for you in the long run whether you think so or not.

Also, you have to realize that the ones that do speak fluent Spanish probably aren't as great as many of you at English, History, and such. The few that do are the ones who go above and beyond and actually study.

For all you kids half-assing it in school, good luck being successful in life. Especially those of you who are in your freshman/sophomore year, you'll be looking for jobs sooner or later and I'm sure many of you are going to have a lot of trouble finding (and keeping) a job.

Spanish is an official language of America, like it or not haha. Move to Canada and you can learn mandatory French instead :)
The grammar is WAY harder though.
Also you guys have it lucky, I only have 1 elective because my french classes take up two of them. And I subbed my one elective for an actual course, so now I don't have any. Spanish is one class. Learn spanish, and be fluently bilingual. Problem solved. And then get on with your life.

this

take some pride in learning about another country/culture, i have taken spanish all four years of high school and it has taught me so much. going into a career knowing another languge could decide if you get the job over someone else. and being from arizona you should be glad to know some spanish because a good portion of our population speaks it, knowing a second languge is a good skill to have work hard at it and you will be rewarded
