Starnuts

I hate them at the moment.
I just got my new reventon and a slider, was putting it all together... And my starnut broke. Now I cant ride, and have to go buy a new one tomorrow. I'm just throwing this out there, maybe companies should come up with a new system??... Integrated starnuts, etc.
Thoughts?

well integrated does exist. but why do you need a starnut for sliders (wheels) and reventon (deck) or are you just saying you put it together and broke your starnut in the process and now you cant ride your new stuff ( this always happens to me haha) And intergrated starnuts arn't standard becase not every compression uses a starnut in the fork (personally i think we should get rid of ICS even tho it can be very very dialed, but most of the time its not and HIC and SCS are easier)

grant I think you're wrong on that one
I've ridden all three compression systems; and starnuts in my forks break much faster and easier than when they are in my bars. I only ride ics now because I think it's the simplest, and the starnuts are easy to install.

My friend had a starnut and topcap machined for him. They're like a cm thick and the starnut doesn't budge at all. Try it but you have to make some sort of system to lodge the starnut in the forks.

You just ride scs or hic, but use an ics bolt with compatible forks instead of a starnut. If you use some proper loctite, it doesn't come loose, and there's no starnuts you have to install.

Instead of puting the star nut in yourself, take it to a bike shop and they will gladly do it quickly and free of charge.

Use the hep Greg method ics, you have your fork, shim and top cap and ics bolt and star but put the ics though the bottom of the fork throught your shim and top cap and screw the starnut on and put you bars on

Mine hasn't yet. And I have two Declare forks on two setups. One I've had for.. four months now. And Ryan rides his harddd and never breaks them.

Road bikes (and Blunt's old compression) have a starnut deal where it expands as you tighten it, so it does not have flanges to break.

The only way I can see people breaking them is riding big park shit and landing flat, or putting them together wrong.

i used to be all about hic, but after tom's incident i went back to scs for my own safety. i never would want that to happen to me because i chose the lighter compression. you should have the shop install it for you, then next time you buy forks get phoenix/zg/tilt forks that have the integrated threads inside the fork tube for the easiest assembly and use
