so like maybe a pro model deck/headtube (you can get the whole scooter on amazon for like $55) and some one piece bars with grips - around $60.

if u wanna spend more u can either get a different fork or wheels, maybe some reinforcements.

I'm sure you have a friend or something with an old shitty scooter you can borrow / break / steal for a bit. Pick it up and play with it a little, keeping in mind you're riding a piece of ----- and see if it works for you. Probably better to do that then to drop >$100 on something right away.

Keeping in mind I'm a bit out of date, I started off just with a Pro deck with the most basic of mods to it. When something on the scooter broke, I replaced it with a better part. Bent the fork, so I got an SR fork; broke a pro wheel so I got Hypers, etc. (Does anyone still ride hypers?) A lot of times, you don't need fancy / awesome parts, especially if you suck at riding, so don't worry so much about what you're standing on as much as your actual riding.

Anyway, I guess they have the Ultra Pro now? You can find em for $60. I haven't ridden them, so someone else will have to tell you if they're any good, but they can't be that bad for a first deck if you cut your own griptape and stuff.
