Style vs Skill

I ride a lot, and I was wondering if it's better to focus on improving your style such as: ( Cleaner riding, adding my own twists to tricks, etc etc )
Or is it better to just focus on doing all good tricks.
I ride street so I mainly focus on style, rather than skill.

just roll with what you're doing man, if you have naturally a good style then it shouldn't matter about tricks cause they'll look clean reguardless.

For me I'm pretty basic street rider so as long as I can tailwhip, do gaps and pretty much most of the basic tricks I'm straight.

I tend to ride quite a lot of techy flat, so when I go ride street I always do something into a grind, something out, like in a run when most people will do about 2 tricks I do about 8.

I prefer to see good style (clean tricks, unique flow, etc.) and also prefer to work on style and tricks I like to do, rather than just learning tricks for the sake of learning tricks.

I'd say it's better to get a smaller bag of tricks on lock and looking good, then having every trick under the sun and just be sketchy as **** at them.

all the tricks i learn just come to me once ive learned how to use an obstacle. cba to spend a day learning something flyout when i could have fun cruising about and doing what comes naturally

It really depends on the rider and what they are riding. The people who throw down frontflip inwards don't need to add a personal touch to the trick because it is amazing off the bat. But riders who are on smaller/tech stuff need to add their own element to the trick, otherwise it just looks horrid.

I'm going to compare this to skateboarding. Nyjah Houston does tons of hard tricks, but the community just doesn't really like him because he seems like he doesn't really like to do the tricks, he just does them because they're hard. Then there's people like Jerry Hsu and Daewon Song who don't have a giant bag of tricks (well, Daewon is a tech wizard) but every single clip they get, even if it's just a backside flip down a four stair, gets you pumped.

Your point is irrelevant cause you think Daewon song doesn't have a decent bag of tricks.

Its a mix of both like Derek said. But its like 3/4 style 1/4 difficulty of tricks

im with chavez, i prefer style. i dont care if your as good as r willy, if you have a nasty horrible style then your just as shitty as the little kids that ride walmart mgp's at my local. but when it comes to your own riding, learn a trick, then make it look nice before you do it on film ( if you film )
