The universe

7 minutes in, didn't like how they didn't explain how Earth would freeze if the orbit moved a fraction out, would've also been nice if they would've given estimated kilometers but maybe there is no specific estimation

edit: 14 - loved the segment about comets, how can they possibly move so far from the sun yet still be controlled by it? million year orbits to the point that their orbit gives the illusion of a straight line...that's awesome and mind-boggling

You've gotta consider just how large the Sun is, in terms of density and size compared to everything else in our star system. The sun is by FAR the largest object in our system, so by all natural laws almost everything we know of in close proximity, with the exclusion of planetary moond, goes around our sun. Including even the tiniest of comets.

But think about this too. In that context, we are just talking about our own solar system, that we consider to be, "ours" the truth is, the sun is only a medium sized star. If you find that amazing, think of the influence that the gigantic(in comparison) stars will have on the space around them.

Yes, true, but the closest star to earth is 4.2 lightyears? away. Pretty sure that's right. Proxima Centauri, and it's a dwarf star if im also not mistaken. A lot smaller than our sun.

There ya go, 1/7th of the size of our sun.

Aight, first things first:

Carl Sagan's Cosmos:this is undoubtedly the best documentary series ever made. Carl has so much passion for the subject matter and has a way of explaining even the most complex ideas to almost anyone. Plus he loved the ganja so its great to know he was probably high as shit in every scene. Some of it is dated but there are updates added at the end of each ep where they are needed. Visuals are awesome as fuck and it covers a large range of subject matter, including evolution, scientific advancements throughout the ages and other awesome trippy space shit. With 13 episodes at 1 hr each it may take you a while to finish but you'll feel smarter for it.

THE PLANETS:good visuals and is basically a walk through of our solar system, good if you don't know that much in detail about the planets.

IN THE SHADOW OF THE MOON: This is the most detailed, best doco about the moon landings that I've watched so far. Interviews with all the astronauts, engineers, and the ground crews, also goes into how the astronauts changed spiritually after the missions which is what I found most interesting.

WHEN WE LEFT EARTH: THE NASA MISSIONS: documentary about all of nasa's missions, not just the moon landing. It's good as fuck.

This are 4 of my favourites there's probably about 24hrs of stuff to watch there so get in amongst it
