Threadless fork question

do you need a threadless headset, or will a stock headset work??
do you need compression system/clamps?

you NEED a thread less headset. or else it wont work.
AND with that you will need a compression system. i recommend SCS

It's possible to use the stock headset, but you'll need to get the wedge ring sorta thing that goes on top of the headset and compresses the headset. You'll have to get it from a bike shop or something, then just use that instead of the stock nut the threads onto the fork. And yes, you'll need ICS or SCS, I doubt you're getting new bars so HIC won't be an option.

ok thanks, I want to get the DSA fork, and the threadless one comes with an ics like compression system, but I dont want to spend 20+ more $ for a headset, so idk if I should get threaded, or threadless and spend more money

and will i need any special tools to install a headset?
Yes it will work, and yes you will. You could use a hammer and a block of wood to hit the cups in, but it would be better for your headset's sake if you had a bike shop do it.
