Buying first editing software, and Camcorder.

Well, I'm getting into filming, and I'm sick of using digital cameras. I know, I fail.

So, for camcorders. I am looking for a good hard drive camera that doesn't cost my arm and leg. I've heard about the JVC Everio series, but I haven't seen any reviews online. Decent manual settings too.

Editing software wise. I'm looking into Sony Vegas Pro, but I want to know what else is out there. I'm looking for ramped slo mos, Speed ups, color correction, all that good stuff.

Any suggestions?

You should get something more reliable than hdd. They break rather easy and are expensive to replace, and some computers don't work with some camcorders without going through a bunch of crap. If you don't want mini dv your best bet is sd cards. something like the hf20.

also don't buy vegas pro if all you want to do is edit scooter videos. that's like buying a 2000hp turbo supra just to drive to work every morning lol. just tried vegas movie studio out and you can do everything you said you wanted to on it, for 550 dollars less.

I don't torrent man, sorry. If I'm going to get something I get it honestly.

Anthony, I just looked up the HF20, and it's "just a tad bit" out of my price range. I was looking around 300-200 range. Just something to start up with.

Nah, I'm fine without buying off random people I met on a hobbyist site that somehow has accumulated 2700+ posts. I'll take my chances with buying from stores.
