Well that's a buttload of stuff dude.

Like do you want to know what a good car is for starting? The best mods for like under a grand you can do to your car? What certain things do on your car?

I need somewhere to start dude. You ask and I'll answer dude.

Alright for the car the best tuners of all time IMO are
Scion (any really. But I would only mod the Tc. I hate Boxes).
Honda S2000
Subaru WRX/STi
Mitsubishi Evo
Mazda RX-7
Toyota Supra
Nissan 350Z
Nissan 240SX
Honda Civic
Honda Integra

Now everyone sees Civic's, but beware guys. If you get a Civic that doesn't already have a K20A engine in it you are going to need to do an engine swap to get anything decent out of it. However auto trader as modded Civic Si's for a dime a dozen. You can probably find a hugely modded one for under 3 grand no problem. THe same goes for the Nissan 240SX. If it doesn't have an SR20DET in it you're gonna have some trouble unless you swap. Not saying it is impossible to do anything to the stock engines but you sure as hell are not going to be doing anything amazing or finding huge aftermarket support for the stock engines.

The Integra is great because you don't need to do an engine swap. You can find a lot of great stuff for the car no issue.

Erik, have you decided on what car you are getting? That would help me out a lot in deciding what to tell you.

rice anyone?
Lol. They're great to start with man. Euro's are WAYYYYYYY to hard to work with for a first ride and Domestic's...well you got the Focus...SRT-4...and Cobalt SS...that's about it man....

And I dunno about you but I have some rice in my garage in the form of a Kawasaki that I'm pretty sure could dust anything you wanna bring or even own....

I'm pretty sure when andrew refers to rice he isn't referring to japanese cars in general, he owns a subaru. He means those crap civics and neons with 6 inch wide fart can mufflers and a 5 foot rear wing that does no good at all.
What do you have against euro's? there are some good starters out there - golfs, old s4's
it may be harder to find parts but you generally start out with a better car

I have nothing against Euros. I ride an Aprilia Julian. Lol.

I love Euro's.

But for a first tuner car you need something simple to work on. Something that everyone has seen or done to something first. Euro's are better cars then anything Japanese. However I dunno about you but the time it takes me to put new clutch plates in a civic compared to a GTi is 5 hours and 300 dollars less.

Euro's are great, but they're MUCH harder to work on.

okaty, so pretty much the basic parts of an engine........ except for the pistons, cranks, cams, cylinders, manifolds.
Do you understand how an engine puts power down to the wheels? Like do you undertand how a basic engine works?

kyper, if i can somehow get the money, i would def go for an evo. those cars are badass
Ok but let's be realistic here. You're probably not going to get an evo. That's why there's a list. If it was me I would choose an Integra or maybe even a Mitsubishi Eclipse. What is your price range looking like?

Also you have to factor insurance into this....what are your parents willing to pay and who is your provider? Cause that can add up to be a fuckload of money.

ya. i do........
Ok well I'm still not understanding your question. You want me to just list the basic parts of an engine? Because if you know how an engine works you should know all the basic parts. And also, for your mods under 3 grand you're not gonna need any miniscule parts really. It's gonna be stuff like an exhaust, K&N air filter, cold air intake, new headers, etc.
