Could someone explain to me the benefit of an aftermarket compression system?

I don't understand what's wrong with using 1 or 2 stock Pro model clamps that have been tightened super tight.

Andrew? Anyone?

To keep the bars on the fork, I'd imagine.

But with slits, clamps do that perfectly fine...and they're free.

eric you dont n wat a compression system is for
wat it does i it takes the bars and pullis them onto the pinchring in the headset which makes it to where there is no play in the headset and therefore makes your scooter solid

No, I understand what a compression system is for...but I guess my real problem is the idea of threadless forks.

Now that there are (threaded!) alternatives to the Proto forks, I just don't see why an adult like myself should shell out 65 dollars for a new compression system (and a 20-40 dollar head set) when the old one was free, and probably works just as well as the new one.

Oh, and I'm wondering if making scooters MORE complicated is the right thing to do.

Threading forks makes them weaker and more likely to break. And it truely isnt as complicated as people make it look. And i dont think you are completely broke to buy a new compression and a 20-40 dollar headset. You don't need to have this stuff, but getting it would provide you with a stronger more solid scooter that would either last you much longer and save you money in the long run if you keep buying stock.

I am completely broke (saving up to move out lol), but that's besides the point.

What about .120mm threaded Inwards? has anyone every broken those at the tube yet?

But why sacrifice that strength!
Get a .120 threadless, and take the 15 bucks for the threading process and buy a compression system. More strength, same money.

yeah you wont break a .120 threaded fork. personally I think if your using a stock headset, then a threaded inward would work amazing for you. Some people prefer the advantages of threadless forks and others chose to stick with stock forks. Its all preferance

or in his situation, he is trying to save money so he can move out. He probably wants threadless stuff but doesn't have the money to spend for scooter parts.

Not necessarily. I would take a threadless fork if it was offered to me for free, but the fact that you have to buy a new headset (and now a new compression system to keep your scooter stable) because of the size difference between threaded and threadless forks is what really turns me off.

IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT THEN DON'T BUY IT!

I'm sick of threads bagging on "Compression" aka SCS.
It's seriously just common sense. People need to stop
saying bullshiit about SCS. Seriously come on. Andrew
has effiecently made a new compression system that
works & looks great. How about instead of bagging on
a product why don't you support it?

Not to be a diick but if you don't wanna go threadless then don't.
People NEED to stop making pointless threads and stick to the chat
box. Please!?

maybe it's different cause I have to pay for stuff myself? idk

Not being a dick. Just saying.

DUDE! a threadless .120 wall fork from inward and their compression is less than a .120 threaded
the only other thing you need to worry about is a decent head set.

and a compression system for added stability?

man...all this talking about parts makes me wish I could start my own scooter business.

maybe in a few years!

Sell some stuff on ebay. Thats what I did to get my threadless
fork, headset, and SCS. Again not being a dick, but if a 16 year
old can scrounge up $185 buy selling old junk then you could to!
Do you not have a job or somthing? I'm just saying that if you don't
want to bother with threadless then don't. Get my point?
