Okay its about time i learn how to grind rails... I got the ledge game down and its starting to bore me

So... how did ya'll learn to grind rails?

Speed? Baby grinds or just commit to an entire rail? Heeldrag?

Help me out and possibly any of the other newer riders who want to know the same thing.

Dont heeldrag it will just create a bad habit, find a flat bar and hit the very end of it and then just start doing more and more of it. Boardslide was my first trick i leaned even before tailwhips.

For some reason i feel as if round rails would be easier but im prob wrong

they are for me i just hit them with speed and to the side of the rail and it works out perfect, square rails i cant lock in but i do them frontside naturaly and it just works better for me that way but for rails 1 main thing is that alot of it is in the arms, you have to disperse the wieght evenly butween the front and back of the scooter so you dont slide off back or slide over it, so use your arms just a bit to keep you flat on it

Learn on both types of rails, at skateparks there's mostly square rails but when doing street you'll come across more round rails. With square rails, you've gotta get on top, whereas, with round rails you can take them at any angle...

...like your mom. I'm sorry. :p

No on round rails you have to get on top of them otherwise you look gay when you just salad a rail. Always get on top, always.

I found it easier on flat bars. It takes a LOT of practice to learn rails properly. You know you are doing it properly when you are comfortable enough to do tricks out of the slide.

If you don't learn how to get on top of round rails, you won't be able to do tricks out of grinds on rails

Round rails are WAAYYY easier.. dont start on flat rails because you cant learn to control and balance your boardslides. find a low, round rail, and just hit the end of it.. dont haul ass at it, go medium pace, then go a little slower each time.. youll have so much control i can hit my rail at like 3mph haha

Just start off small, then work your way up, round rail or square it doesn't matter.

For high rails and handrails just commit and don't think about nutting it, cause you won't.
