Ok i biked back in the day and now i have moved on to scootin. I am confused about the whole Headset thing. I know how they are use for bikes but i am unsure about how they help with a scooter. (Do they become your new bottom Clamps?) If someone could post some pics or something and try to explain to me how it works that would be GREAT.

Ps. Im sorry if this is a double Post!

You replace them with your stock headset for smoother/faster barspins and tailwhips and compatibility with threadless forks like the SR forks. Heres a picture of the front of Stan's scooter for example

Thats the Sealed FSA and SR forks, and theres a compression system inside too so you can tighten the headset down.

Its not a double post, don't worry. I'm glad to see a new rider who doesn't make a fool of himself :)

When you tighten the bars and forks together, they have to tighten onto something, and that thing is the headset. The headset has ball bearings in it, so that when everything's tightened down it will still spin. If there wasn't a headset and everything was tightened down, nothing would move. So there you have it.

Ok if you have the threadless forks you put your headset on your headtube and setup the bearings... than you have to hammer a starnut into your bars, put them on the fork, and than you put a long bolt through the bottom of the fork and you screw it into the starnut to tighten the bars and headset togeather so theres no shake., than you tighten the clamp up that ons your bars

If your riding a stock fork with threads and a stock headset, you just slide the fork on than screw the bottom nut onto the fork than the compression nut ontop of that and clamp your bars on the fork... pretty simple
