How old is too old?

Hi, im new here and pretty new to the sport too. Was riding around in the back alley earlier trying to learn a few tricks, without realising my dad was watching me.

He used to skate back in the day up to a few years back and he wasnt too bad from the videos and photos hes shown me. Anyway, he had a quick go on my scooter and he didnt do too badly seeing as hes never been on one before, which leads me to this.. is he too old to start up? (hes 38)

I dont think age really maters but it seems like it would be a lot of fun to get to ride with your dad.

I think he is planning on getting one..his problem is he doesnt know much about them with regards to which brands to avoid and which are reputable. One of my mates has a zinc ftw he doesnt use anymore so im going to borrow that for him for the time being.

One thing he did ask was if the decks came in different widths/have concave?

Yeah they do. How tall and heavy is he? Also how much is he lookin to spend and I can give you some part suggestions

Hes 5 foot 6, at a rough guess around 75kg. Not sure on budget but i guess he will be willing to pay more for something that doesnt break easily :)

He will probably buy parts to build one to be honest unless there are completes available that will be strong enough.

I've seen some or at least one snapped.
Nevertheless, still one of the best decks out there.

Adults tend to like something big, wide and comfortable for both feet together, so I'd recommend getting a Stan Smirnoff deck (new or mint/used). Since he used to skate, I assume a 22x5.25 deck would have the nearest feel to a skateboard deck due to the size. What are his expectations?

Yeah i was orignally thinking he would want a bigger deck but he is 5 foot 6...
What size shoe is he?

Oh, also, 38 is not even old enough, haha. I myself have less than 15 years left before i turn 38 and I assume if I still have all my limbs attached, i'd still pick up my scooter for a few spins. There are even some OGs at the age of 40-55 that skate bowls at competitions these days.

My dad was almost to his tail whips from just messing with it from the car to the house after trips.

Apologies for the double post, didnt want to make a new thread..does anyone know where to get the stan smirnoff deck in the uk, have asked at a couple of local shops with no luck so far.
