No, usually you use a chat embedded from another site, the information from the chat is actually on the website, not sr.
Live chat would kickass.

Live chat would be an effort to implement, that's why it's not being used so regularly today. Though i can see a few ways the chatbox could be made live. (same concepts as facebook's updates).

sometimes i make big retarded scooterchats on aim, but then someone invites rob or liltony and it gets wrecked. and i am too lazy to get uccom or whatever

I dont mean a irc, i just mean the live chats you seen on some websites how it just launches the application and then your talking, so no download... Unless you can get irc channels like that :p, and i dont mean on Inside scooters etc i mean like a main tap like news and media,

No it wouldn't. We used to have one WAYY BACK in like the first year of SR. I can't really remember anything about it, i only used it once or twice.
