New to the forum? Here's some good tips and such that you should follow, so the rest of this forum doesn't start to hate you.
1. Use the search function.
Alright, so Scooter Resource has a search function. It's at the top of EVERY page of the forum, right between "New Posts" and "Quick Links". USE THIS FEATURE! Before making a new thread, search to see if your question or whatever it is that you're looking for has already been made. Chances are, it probably has.
2. Lurk before you leap.
This one is more for those of you who have never used forums before. When you enter a domain of cyberspace that's new to you, take a look around. Spend a while listening to the chat or reading the archives. Get a sense of how the people who are already there act. Then go ahead and participate.
3. Know what you're talking about, and make sense.
If you don't know what a thread or topic is about, read it before you post. Be sure you know what you're talking about. Also, bad information propagates and spreads like wildfire. So make sure your stating facts (unless it's an opinionated topic, of course). make sure your posts are clear and logical. It's perfectly possible to write a paragraph that contains no errors in grammar or spelling, but still makes no sense whatsoever. This is most likely to happen when you're trying to impress someone by using a lot of long words that you don't really understand yourself. Trust me -- no one worth impressing will be impressed. It's better to keep it simple.
4. About Flaming...
"Flaming" is what people do when they express a strongly held opinion without holding back any emotion. It's the kind of message that makes people respond, "Oh come on, tell us how you really feel." Tact is not its objective. Also, it's when people don't respect each others' opinions. Everybody has the right to think and act differently.
5. Don't use all capital letters.
Type in lowercase or standard case, not in all caps. All caps usually makes people think you're shouting. Some people consider it spam. If you type with all caps, you will annoy and possibly offend other forum members.
6. Be respectful.
Be respectful. . Appreciate that your opinion is one of many. You can disagree with another person without being disrespectful or rude online. Being disrespectful and/or ignorant causes arguments, and you'll end up with a bad reputation; people will dislike/hate you. Many members have been banned for causing too many arguments and such on the forums.
7. Posting Pictures...
First, make sure the picture you want is on your computer. go to one of the following site:
http://www.tinypic.com/
http://www.photobucket.com/
Upload your image to the website (both sites give directions on how to do this).
Copy the IMG code and paste it into your post where you want your pictures.
There you go!
Just thought this would help new people who have recently joined, and any new members who will join in the future.
