Knife laws are different in every state. Generally under 3 inches is ok. I have a mini griptillian and its amazing. If you're on a budget kershaw and sanrenmu and spiderco are the best for the price

Look at some Spyderco, Kershaw, and maybe Cold Steel. Those are all around the $20-50 range depending on the model, at least some of the cheaper ones. If you want to spend some more on a knife that will last you a great deal with maintenance, look at Emerson, Strider, or Benchmade.

Spyder co's are fucking sharp i have one and its awesome. Benchmades are good and the make a bunch of other brands like HK knives and Harley davidson knives. Just remember, the higher the price doesnt mean the better the quality. one of my best knives is a 13 dollar kershaw. CRKT also makes very good and affordable knives

I'm not sure why smaller ones are legal, more dangerous in my opinion, but I still carry them haha. I have loads of knives, I have a 3.5" fury which is my biggest, I'd recommend fury knives if you want it for practical reasons, they perform well and are extremely cheap, but I don't think they will ever hold collector value.

I also carry one of these all of the time when I'm out at night time. It's actually exactly the same as mine, except mine is orange not yellow. Bought it from singapore.
