Bolt the foldy.
put new grip tape on it.
and get bearings (i prefer reds, bones, or black panthers)
and thats pretty much ready to go.
after that theres alot of aftermarket ups.
like bars and forks... etc.

yea if your not feeling the stock wides u can go to your ocal hardware store and get i THINK 7/8 pipe, preferble steel so its strong and bolt it, and bolt your bars threw the steer tube and t-tube at the correct high you prefer so there isnt a big dirty clamp slappin you in the knees

yea and like get some new wheels cuz chaances are tht u'll snap them. or u could hot glue them. or use tht fiber stuff that some kid from new zealand used. other than that i'd ssay thts abbout it.

you will eventually need a new brake soo blade/mad brake will work a treat

some lo profile wheels or somtin like that, stocks are slow

haha stock wheels are faster than slow pros and if u hot glue them they are stronger as well

i run pro bearings they are smooth as and pretty fast too but i think speed is more determined by what wheel u have u could have the best bearings and be running low pros and ur scooter will be slow or stock bearings and gms or metal cores and it will be fast

it really doesnt matter how fast your wheels spin freely, because i used to have some lucky abec 7 bearings and they spun for like a minute straight, but were slow as hell. now i have bone swiss, and they barly spin at all when i spin them freely, but they're super fast when im ridding. also, if your wheel is spinning really fast freely, your wheel could be loose.

no no no no serjey.
i hate it when i see little noobs at skatebarn with this super nice scooters, with super dialed parts when they suck super bad. kids should only be getting after market products if they actually need them/break parts. for example: i used to break t-tubes like crazy, so i got 1 piece bars. as simple as that. just because some noob kid has a rich family, doesnt mean that he needs to get all the best parts so he can just fit in with the scooter community and try and have a really nice scoot. thats not the point of scootering! i watched this video one time on vimeo, and it pissed me off so bad, because this kid had an SR fork and BUFF bars, and he couldnt even whip. it made me want to punch a baby. so basicly, only get after market parts if you actually need them, not just to fit in.

jordansantacruz: just bolt your foldy, and replace your griptape. you should be fine for a while.

if you can afford the parts and can get them why not it only makes your scooter better and its easier to learn stuff on a good scoot than a piece of shit scoot eg
if you have a scooter that is very slow it will be harder to land soemthign than a scooter that is fast and smooth and he might think it is easier to do tricks with bigger bars so he might get one piece bars so he doesnt cut his hands on his bolted t tube or seatpost.
