Proto Gripper Durometer? (river glides vs grippers)

River glides are said to be 84a. How do grippers compare?

I need to switch to a softer wheel. I only ride street but the rapids (while super fun at 88a) don't feel safe. I always feel like im about to slip out when I'm bombing and turning because I already have a couple times.

Grippers are not softer than glides. I believe when I tested them with the durometer at the tilt shop they came in at about 85a-86a.

River glides are WAY to soft in my opinion, i've had mine for two months and they have chunks and are almost square from riding mostly driveway.

I feel like grippers are too soft too. I'm getting chunks in mine and I'm riding mostly flat. I'd say get sliders cause I think they're in between grippers and rapids. My grippers are starting to chunk but who knows yours might last longer.

thanks for making my life impossible. I just want durable wheels that don't slip out. If grippers are 85, and sliders are 87, and what you say is true, maybe someone needs to make an 86a wheel.

Regardless, absolutely no one is jumping on the 125mm game. If one decent company would release them, they'd be a monopoly and make some bank. Don't know how it hasn't happened yet in the 5 or so years that decent wheels have started to become a thing.

^^notice I said "decent"

I heard zkoots were decent but they're a euro brand

I know of scooter hut, they're wheels are cheap AF, are they any good? Still making note of that 88a urethane. Totally don't want it on those massive wheels.

Eagle has 86A wheels

let's be serious tho, proto aint what it used to be; their wheels are weaker than ever. I wouldn't be surprised if eagle makes a better wheel

what they used to be? They had mad chunk and dehub problems the first couple years of their release. That was during the heavily emphasized "break in your wheel before you jump it off a curb" era. I'd say they've only gotten better since then. When are you saying the peaked?

about decent wheels, i'm riding phoenix wheels and i don't feel myself slip at all
eagles are decent wheels, they're the most sold wheels, not saying they're the best but he wanted 86A wheels so I offered him those, I was dissappointed with the new phoenix wheels, the old ones were much better, but I don't think it's possible to get them from anywhere

My bad haha but Honestly I think sliders are the better wheels cause they're just between grippers and rapids. I ride quite a few concrete parks and hill bombing with lots of turns and junk on my sliders and I never had a problem with sliding out really. I also really liked to old Phoenix wheels. But I don't know maybe the ground I'm rising on is a lot more sharp and rough which was causing my wheels to chuck, but nevertheless, grippers, sliders, and old Phoenix's are the best wheels IMO.

try scooter hut 125s, on my second pair now (1st got stolen with my last scoot) so been on em for 4 months total. rode em on addict, district 3.8 mgp, phoenix and downside decks, feels like riding spoked eagle that have eagle grey pu feel and stronger than it looks core but cheap. you have to try em to understand how good they are. also the only wheels that go noticeably faster with better bearings, but also put that down to going down some insane hillbombs recently.
