Ripping griptape on spins.

Flat 540s are raping my griptape. On the heel side of my deck, towards the back of it, the corner always rips off on fresh pieces of grip. Does this happen to anybody else? It's starting to piss me off, cause it's happened to 3 sheets in a row.

If it is only on brand new grip then it is because the grip hasnt bonded good enough to the metal yet so the force of your heels scraping against the grip will tear it. Try using it for a little while before trying flat 5's and see what it does. But if it is on like older grip then it might just be the kind of grip you are using. experiment with a different kind of grip.

yeah i think its all in the kind of grip you have. i have crappy grip from dick's, and pieces always rip off. It didn't happen during spins though, i was just doing motions for heelwhip rewinds, and a chunk came off when i kicked the deck. you gotta let it sit and bond for awhile.

when you put grip on heat it up by an iron, it makes it stick alot better

I have pig grip on my deck. i usually get a piece of metal and grind it on the ends of the grip to make it stick better

yea ive never had to replace home depot grip tape it holds up really well imo
