Scooter Design

I just finished working on a scooter design in sketch up (I have a fabricator in town so I may be able to make some). Here are a few pictures:
Everything is meant for freestyle, especially the deck design (easy 50-50s).

I give credit to Madis for his bar reinforcement design.

Old a model style = no

I dunno, I consider myself a pretty open minded person, but is that really necessary to realise that there CAN be a scooter without a folding mech (or a non-folding mech)?

The neck looks just dumb, firstly it would be weak and secondly, there's no way of making such looking one.

It's good that you try designing though, Ive been thinking of a bar like that, I don't think I would ever need mine to be made this way but some people ride super wide bars, and this would be nice for them.

Same with Pete.

Loose the stupid rear fork, just merge it in one piece with the deck - that way it's easier to make it eventually, and it will be stronger. Foldy is just an extra weight, loose that too.

I assume that you haven't measured out the right angles and diameters of the forktube, steertube and neck, because that neck looks incredebly large.

There's alot of work to do, and you should loose all the unnecessary things you don't need.

edit: Pete, btw, have you had any time to make your last design with the pipes and wooden plate?

Nah, I still have to find someone who would do it for me, and as I feel fine with my current deck now I have hardly any motivation to search.

I agree with madis.. Go with one peice from the headset to the deck, an angled peice similar to the current razor scooters, because that design you have will add ALOT of stress on the welds holding the neck to the headset... and yea...

What's so bad about suggesting designs?

At least people are trying. But Andrew's will be sick, there's no doubt about it, despite the fact I haven't even seem them yet.

It'd look alot better if the forks were more of a rounded shape at the top towards the headset, not just square. It'd look hepas good.

jason how do you expect just one person with one design to be able to do it all. if everyone helps the scooters will get better. and it will get done faster with more help.also many of us dont have time to wait

True, only issues seem to me are the lack of time and motivation to start machining at them.

The forks are already under construction but will not be available until I finish a FULL batch (40 pairs) which will be another week or so (hopefully) and yes TIME is a huge issue but motivation is not. I work 25 hours a week and go to school 25 hours a week while still trying to find time to run SR and all its' side projects like these scooter parts and shipping for the store. Not to mention finding time to hang out with my girlfriend, my friends and having a life. Another huge issue is money. Since I only work part time my money has to go a long way and scooters are the last on a very long list of priorities at the moment. The first 10 decks alone are probably going to set me back close to $2,000. I have sent out the designs to quite a few machine shops getting quotes while also trying to do extensive industry research so I don't get screwed. If all goes well I should have a few decks done by the end of the year and possibly bars but that is all going to depend on how much I can cram into winter break.

Again, motivation is NOT an issue or I would not have spent the last 2 and a half years researching and designing this thing. There are a lot of factors that have played into this project taking so long and one of the biggest is wanting to do it RIGHT unlike every other person or "company" that has tried to make this and that only to realize it is totally impractical and they did not plan or anticipate what it actually takes to run a business then end up closing up shop.

Just be patient and I promise it will be worth the wait so start saving.
