Signature trick lists.

Why do people insist on having a to-do list of tricks in their signature?
Why not get out, ride, have fun, and learn tricks that pop into your head at the time.
Personally, i don't think of any tricks before i get to a park. I hardly think it's good for your style, or trick list to organise a list of tricks to learn.
Get out there, ride a park, and look at that one ledge or quarter.
Think to yourself, or say to a friend, "I haven't tuck aired / feeble 180'd / flair quad whipped this before, i'm going to learn it"
Build your style and tricks from riding, not from words.

I really agree with this, and apart from just in signatures I think there is too much of a spotlight on learning certain tricks at x amount etc. I rarely go out to the park knowing what I'm going to do, I just go out of the sheer want to ride, doesn't mean I don't try anything new or complicated, I've picked up a few of the unique tricks here and there. It isn't anything to stress over, even if it's your job to ride, you should be enjoying it first, and learning new tricks are hard work for some and trivial for others, just let it come naturally.

It's probably the younger riders who are more susceptible to the idea that they need to learn to bri, 360 double whip, etc before they can be accepted by the more skilled riders, hopefully this stigma doesn't creep around too much!

just my bit

Personally, if i see another new-ish rider that adopts a style similar to mine (not being cocky, i just like to see people who ride like me killing it) i instantly remember their name, and i instantly watch, read, look at whatever they do. It's kids that don't follow the typical routine of hop, whip, barspin, briflip, inward, backflip, that really, really stand out in my eyes.

I'm going to laugh at the fact that all of the kids who used to have the tricks in their sig are now going to remove them because you guys said so. And then trying to avoid the ever towering conformity, kids will start putting them in again to be different. It's all about trying to be like ur fav rider and when they all say, "Don't be like other riders!" A new standard is then set up that they will follow. Also e=mc2. Simple enough rite?

as long as people aren't ragging on each other for tricks they can't do or how they execute the trick, it's another good day

i don't really agree with you saying that people shouldn't think about their tricks before they go to a park, sometimes i need to meditate on a trick before i can get it

I agree, I never go to a park thinking "I'm soo gonna learn this trick today, and that one in a month, and that one in a year" i just go out and when i see something i really wanna do i do it =]

The funny thing is, I have started a trick list before. But by the time I go and ride, I usually forget about them, haha. Unless I really want the trick, and see it on a specific obstacle. But yeah, typically it's better to let the creativity flow when at the park.

i know and ride with people that just go over to the bowl and flyout and learn one trick until they get it... its gay. i just ride everything in the park, have fun, learn stuff, try new things, but mainly have fun.

At scooter for life.
Doing a trick over and over til you get it is commitment.
Having a list of tricks to do, and doing it systematically is stupid.
Everyone should have their careers like those pick a storyline books, where you read a page, then go to one of two new pages.
Once you learn one trick, don't limit yourself to learning one more, learn whatever comes to mind.

I don't even bother doing tricks really (apart from the basic ones like barspins and tailwhips) I just like going up and down the ramps and getting heaps of air. I spose I like riding flow style.
