I was maybe thinking just to take a hammer and slowly rotate the starnut while bending the fins in, but im not completely sure.. Help!! Lemme know what you guys have done. Thank you for your time!

they are suposd to be too big, when you install it the flanges bend up making it so you can only hit it down further but it wont pull back up so that when you lighten your compression it will actually compress your headset instead of having the starnut just pull all the way up.

anyways what you need to do is thead the compression bolt into that starnut and then put the starnut on top of the steerertube and hit the top of the bolt with a hammer till the starnut starts to go in. it will start going in really crooked but dont warry just keep hitting till both levels of flanges are in. then what you want to do is find the biggest size socket that you can still fit into the steerertube, remove the compression and place the socket directly on top of the star nut. then hit the socket with the hammer and it will straighten out the starnut as it drives it deeper, keep hitting it till it is a few centimeter below the top of the steerertube and you are done.

if you dont think you can do this then just bring it to a bike shop to have it installed as there is a special tool meant for installing them properly.

well correct me if i'm wrong, but the scorcher is an ALU fork so that means it need a thick forktube. So they dont need starnuts, as they have an integrated one. Idk about the scorcher in particular, but if what im saying is right, you can just thread the bolt right into the top of the fork, no starnut needed.

well if that was the case i sure hope he would have noticed lol, many forks with aluminum steerertubes arent internally threaded though such as my friends lucky fork.

wait, wouldnt that snap in like 5 seconds? if you had a forktube made of aluminum, the same thickness as on made out of cromo, you would die hahah

no its obviously thicker lol just not too much thicker that you cant get a starnut in there, remeber the flanges of a starnut can bend to just about any size so there is no exact inner diameter that what you are installing it into has to be...

Scorchers are thicker. Read what TUC said about starnuts.

The scorcher does not have a built in threaded insert.
