Team shirts...

I could probably write a small essay on the subject, but i'll keep it short..
Why does every big company in scooters feel it's necessary to make "team" shirts?
Sure, I can identify your team riders, but if your team riders are doing their job right, you don't need to slap a huge word on their back so they're recognizable...
It's just another one of those things that makes the sport look about as mature as a pee-wee hockey league.

I honestly don't see why its a big deal? Its advertising..Our sport is full of little kids, meaning that if they see a really good rider wearing a inward scooters shirt for example, they are going to want to buy stuff from there just because they saw there favorite rider wearing a shirt that says it.

Putting the word 'team' on a shirt makes the company more recognizable and likely to sell product? Your logic is horrific.
Team riders should wear product that is for sale. You're directly advertising a singular product AND a company name, then.
Companies don't sell the team shirts, they just make them for the riders. It's so ridiculously pointless.
One of the most easily reconizeable shirts in the industry today is the "I only film bangers". I only need to SAY that phrase, and you'd be able to tell me it was made by Tilt. THAT is good marketing. Putting the word 'team' on a shirt doesn't do anything for the company, just makes it look like an under 7's soccer team.

edit, just to illustrate further -

Anyone who has ever had an interest in skateboarding knows what that logo represents.
And guess what? It's NOT because they put the word 'team' underneath the logo on a t-shirt.

Riders will fall on both sides of this argument. It comes down to riders that are in it for marketing/profit and riders that are in it for the riding. It's easy to separate who's who most of the time.

i noticed this a while ago but never thought to bring it up. I think it is stupid to put 'team' on the shirt because the rider noes he/she is on the team and most other people do (because everyone goes crazy when they see a sponsored rider). I also think companies should bring out more clothing and use a unique logo/symbol rather then all the silly shitty scooter ones. Like tilt, lucky, eagle and razor are all unique and can tell who the company is as soon as you see the logo.

I think team shirts should be used at competitions, it kinda brings the team together imo, and it kinda helps with respect from other people at the skatepark, because skaters/bikers don't know of sponsored scooter riders? I can see it getting some more respect than all the other kids at the park. But i see what you mean, riders would look better with a plain logo. it looks like its up to the companies to change this.

Other than comps, can't say I've seen riders wear a shirt that says "team" and then a logo. And there's a reason for having them at a comp, promotes togetherness and let's people know who's riding for who. Outside of that, eh, who cares. Maybe they had a leftover comp shirt or want to show kids who they ride for. Does it matter?

Aaron knows what he is talking about.

We have to just wait for these silly little nuances in scooterland to die out along with the people who are no longer representing scooter riding as it's meant to be.

sooooo damn true.
also, this is one reason why maddgear is wack. every single one of their riders wears that obnoxious looking lime green and black shirt 24/7.

i have a friend who is sponsored by reef for surfing. he dosent wear clothes that say "team" on them. he wears all the clothes that they have on the market, and because of it, half my school wears reef.

by having the team rider wearing clothes that no one can buy, it does the company no good

I've ridden with skaters who have team "____" shirts so I don't really get the big deal it's not like we're the only ones with team shirts. I think they should wear them to comps cause that's pretty much like the time to show off companies and riders. At the park every day is prob pushing it, just make it small and like on the front or something, not a huge TEAM on the back. Comps=yes, everyday riding=no.

What company / where are some pictures / video?

Even I'M guilty of this one. I was at church last sunday and my mate was wearing a really artsy shirt. I asked him where he got it, he told me, and now i'm buying that shirt AND around 11 others.
