Because when rappers go mainstream there music usually, but not always, gets crappier so they can meet the demands of the general public who want a song with a dance to it and with lyrics that are easy to understand. Listen to Lupes song "Dumb it down", it talks about the same thing.

Oh and bay area is the shiiiit. Mac Dre, Keak Da Sneak, Sqweez, there all good.
