Tilt Fork problem

Yeah so i have week old tilt forks and i was trying to take them off my deck with a addict headset, the addict top cap was stuck on the fork tube so i tried hitting it a couple times with a wrench then it messed up the top thread in the fork.
Is there anyway i can get a starnut in there?
is there anyway to fix this?

already thought of that but i want to fix thy threads or if a starnut could fit.

You cant "fix" threads...Usually the top cap is really hard to get off forks if they still have the rubber seal on them...Just get a hammer and hang the deck off of a table so that your fork can spin freely and hit the top of your fork with the hammer until it is flat with the top cap. Then grab the top cap and pull it off.

Don't quite understand what you mean, can you explain it in a different way or something?

That isn't my problem, i got the top cap off already that's nothing.
The Compression Cap won't screw into the forks anymore, that's my problem.

Sounds like you messed them up pretty bad. What you can do is just take a starnut and just pound it in there.

I was thinking of doing this if Tilt couldn't do anything or thought of anything to help me.

Why don't you just call the Tilt shop?

I emailed them last night but no reply so i was patiently waiting, i was thinking of calling but i didn't.

I'm not sure if a starnut would fit in there is the problem, not sure if there's any small starnut of that size.

Get a 1" starnut, it will fit. Most bike shops have them.

I also thought about that but if i don't cut the fork right i'm pretty sure the bolt won't screw in.

If the 1" won't fit i'll try 7/8.

Just have a machine shop "chase" the threads for you...they will just run a tap through it and youll be good to go.

I'll probably try that depends if i could find one for the right price.

and everyone who mentioned the starnut, the 1" starnut won't fit.

Yeah..i was going to say a 1" starnut would be too big... Tilt forks have a really thick wall. You will need a 7/8" starnut.
And the machine shop suggestion only works if you know somebody who works at a machine shop that will hook u up.
If you dont know anybody i would just take it to a machine shop anyway and ask them how much it would cost to fix. They might surprise you and do it for free just to be nice.

Bring it to a machine shop and ask to get it re threaded
