to people complaining about non scooter parts on scooters:

you should really stop. scootering/biking/etc. basically paved the way for scooters and how they're portrayed currently.

people don't need to bitch about someone's scooter everytime they see a skateboard deckplate/bmx bars on it... it's incredibly unnecessary. if people choose to go this route, they should be prepared to explain why.

let's see here:

-pretty much all griptape comes from a skateboarding brand.
-all the headsets we swear by are technically made for BMX bikes.
-grips/barends are the same way. they were originally meant for bikes.
-hell, the MOST POPULAR SCOOTER WHEELS (Eagle) originated as inline skate wheels when us scooter riders first discovered them.
-95% of the bearings we use to propel our wheels/scooter come from some type of skateboarding/rollerblading company.

what I'm trying to get at is that I don't care what anyone says, we NEED these other sports/companies in order for scootering to grow as a sport. we simply cannot make it without these products, and we wouldn't be anywhere near where we are today if it wasn't for them.

tl;dr: don't put someone down for riding bike bars or using a skate deck as a deckplate... you're only making yourself look like a hypocrite.

this is all :]

i actually do see this as a problem because if you are buying products that are made by scooter companies designed to be used on scooters then the money you are spending on the products is going back into the sport wich will help it expand where as if you buy stuff from other companies who have nothing to do with scooters then your money is going elsewhere and isnt doing anything for the sprt.

now i agree that in some cases it is inevitable like with grips for example but with almost every other part nowadays you can buy scooter specific wich is what i always try to do.

so just think about what you buy, where your money is going and that their intentions are with it...

Tuc, I see where you're coming from but first off for some people it's just a lot easier to get stuff from other sport, Like Me for example, I would MUCH rather just buy griptape and bearings from a skate shop than i would to order it off a website and have to wait at least a week given that where I live no shops sell decent scooter stuff.

And second I know that scooter riding is not really heard of that well at the moment but it is growing really really fast, just look at AUS for example, packed with scooter riders. I honestly dont think that buying bearings/griptape/skateboard decks etc from non-scooter companies is really going to make a huge difference in where this sport is heading.

i agree that it can be quite a hassel and sometimes people dont really have much of a choice then to buy what is available and that is fine. i know that the sport is growing rapidly and that wouldnt be happenning unless people were buying companies products and thus allowing them to sponsor riders and develop new products...

I got myself banned.
who in the hell would complain about bmx/skating etc stuff being on a scooter? thats pathetically embarrassing

I'm 50/50 on this. I think you should support the sport, but any things we start to absorb from other sports will eventually be emulated by the companies involved in ours. Examples are Quebec making its own bar-ends and companies manufacturing wider deck plates after people began to use skateboard decks. But at the same time, bmx bars on buffs and skateboard decks on TSIs look fucking ugly. Just sayin'.

this is a good point, except the only one i find find stupid when people ride 28 inch wide bike bars on their scooter. Bikes have big bars because they need to steer a big wheel, thats why kick scooters originated with 13.5 inch wide bars.

^^^ exactly, wtf was the point in this thread it came out of nowhere and whenever people do bitch about stuf like this, say in the your scooter thread, someone says basically what you just said then pepole just move on, such a pointles thread

scooters were also originated to be foldable and that probably had more to do with the bar width imo.
