ok so i was talking with my friend and he has t mobile and a iphone 3G that was unlocked from AT&T service and given to him so now he has a iphone with t mobile service anyways......... ..
....

....... we where talking and his friend does NOT pay the shittyy extra data plan that makes the bill so expensive because his phone is unlocked so can unlocked iphones just have a basic calling plan with unlimited text

I got myself banned.
What is happening to kids on these forums today. Apple make the phone. ATT provides cell and internet service for it. Apple does not have ANY plan, yeah you have to register your iPhone with apple, but they have nothing to do with your data plan, thats all ATT. If Apple had their own plans don't you think everyone would dump ATT? Come on...

i know i can get the iphone from apple but when they activate it do they look up my current plan from at&t and use that ..also do they add the data plan charge no matter what or can i get away with not having it because pretty much everywhere i go has wifi (school, home)

I got myself banned.
Dude if you buy an iPhone through apple, you have to create or need an account from ATT. The $30ish dollar a month data plan will be added to your account. It doesn't matter if you just want to use wifi, the data plan is part of the iphone.
