what i realized...

Well this story begins on Friday, the day terry's vid came out. Needless to say, it blew my mind and got me pumped to ride the next day, really pumped to learn some new tricks and get better. (it was night when i saw it). On saturday morning my dad tells me we're going to my grandparent's b/c he had to deliver a refridgerator to them. I brought my scooter, planning to ride on their driveway a bit.

Well when i was there i just wasn't feeling motivated to ride, it was quite hot but i still thought i should be out riding, but i didn't. just didn't feel like it.

We go back home and i watch the mini again, and some other videos. I really feel like learning new tricks and stuff but the driveway where i ride had cars in it, so i was forced to ride the stinking sidewalk and this really flat bank. I was trying 180 bar to fakies down it, and couldn't get them at all. I jammed my finger on one and i just got pissed. I couldn't hardly do anything, and i got madder still. I wasn't feeling it at all, and went back in to chill off.

So anyways, I went back out and did a simple 180 off the curb. And then I realized something. You shouldn't ride to impress people, you shouldn't ride to become the best. You don't have to make a video and get 29387320857 views on youtube to feel good about riding. You shouldn't ride for other people. You should ride for yourself. For fun. Thats something I think I had forgotten lately, and maybe you have too. I was reminded of that again today, when i finally got fingewhips down. I was stoked, and I haven't felt like that when riding in awhile.

So basically, i guess this thread is just to remind you, to scoot for fun. It doesn't matter what other people thing as long as your having fun.
lol

haha i know a couple people who ride only to be the best and impress ... not naming names, he steals alot of tricks tho

i ride to be original... because if you do the same tricks as everyone else, youll never be noticed unless youre like jesus or soemthing

I got myself banned.
I ride for fun, so i have something to film, to meet new people, and to impress :) Don't get me wrong, but i'd rather try a real sketchy trick down a 12 stair (360 for example) on camera to show people... instead of just doing it with no proof, i can't really have fun abusing my body for no reason. I probably wouldn't do alot of tricks i do without a camera because of what could happen when doing them, i think a camera brings out skills in people.

Now i sound like i ride for the camera... great.

i think its much beter if you ride for camera. even if you dont use the fotty for anything you can just look back at it and improve that way. but i'd rather ride for camera because not as many people would believe if for example terry said he landed a double but with that footage he can prove it.

A camera is something that motivates you to ride. I usually go riding alone, without music and there is no one else at the spot/skatepark/ramp that Im riding, Im getting these weird periods when I just sit on top of the ramp staring at the scenery, or ride around, up to the stairset and back, looking like a fucking idiot, with no will to drop in or throw myself down the set, haha. I guess it would be different if there was someone to ride with or film me, riding is still fun though, just not as much as for some of you.

Yeah I agree with you. Theres certain things I'll only do when theres a camera around because I know its a dangerous trick that I really don't want to do again but would like to have on film just to prove I did it.

i was gonna make a thread on this... but you beat me and did a much better job. i agree <3
lol thanks.

i agree about filming something that could be dangerous, just as long as it doesn't get to the point where you want to film everything to impress people it'll be all good.

aww <33 Lloyd.

i totally agree with you. i always ride for fun whether its in my driveway or at a park. now, as much as id like to go to competitions or be in videos, i still keep a good outlook on things. my perspective is to ride to progress and progress for me and only me.

I love riding with or without a camera, but the camera kinda motivates me more because I want to show people what I'm doingso they can see other aspects of scooter riding.

im 99.263% sure i know who your talking about haha

i ride for fun, i flm when i want to, i dont when i dont. I always come home from DK/XW bitching at myself for not filming some of the stuff i landed, but in the end it was a mad fun sesh so thats all that matters ya know? Thats another reason why it takes me like a year to make a mini. lol

There are 3 kinds of my riding:
1. Showing off and having fun with my old tricks
2. Learning hard the new ones
3. Making footy for my new minivid
The first one is what I enjoy the most, but I always like/appreciate the variety of tricks and high quality vids, so the other 2 ways are needed too

I ride for fun...and to impress...I almost never filmed anything in the past 4 years...I like more to ride in front of the crowd...specialy street...grind banks, do 360's down steps...
I just love the feeling when random ppl turn from "lol, what a fag...riding a scooter" to "sex man, can you do that again" :D

I usually ride with my biker/skater friends...they are motivation enought...they just push me to do new stuff...
