A perfect slit?, drill a hole the height you want the slit, then draw a level line down from that. Connect the line to the hole by cutting with a grinder, handsaw, or whatever metal raping utensil you have.

If you want it incredibly perfect, you can find the middle of the steerer tube's id, then you can make a line from that, then..... You know what? I don't want to explain that. lol.

Wait, what is the above statement suppose to mean? I don't understand it.

Edit: Oh wait, I think he was saying how i didn't want to go into the rocket science version of making perfect slit. You'd have to go from the center of the Steertube's ID, then draw a level line across that point, then cut a straight line from there how ever high you want the slit, THEN drill a hole at the top of the slit, so it has room to compress and not pinch.
