Its not really supposed to be good.. but this shit is catchy and you keep coming back...

that, and Lil B actually has good songs too, like actual rap music, not everything is "first I park my car, then a fuck yo bitch"

Base" is another term for crack cocaine, so originally, the term "based" meant to be on crack, or to be a crackhead. However, this is not how Lil' B intends this term when he uses it.

When asked what "based" means in an interview in Complex, Lil' B gave this reply:

"Based means being yourself. Not being scared of what people think about you. Not being afraid to do what you wanna do. Being positive. When I was younger, based was a negative term that meant like dopehead, or basehead. People used to make fun of me. They was like, 'You're based.'
They'd use it as a negative. And what I did was turn that negative into a positive. I started embracing it like, 'Yeah, I'm based.' I made it
mine. I embedded it in my head. Based is positive."

I gather from this explanation that Lil' B was probably somewhat of an outcast ("People used to make fun of me"), but this is his way of embracing his odd individuality. Instead of giving in and conforming to what others expect him to be or act like, he embraces himself and who he is at his core and by self-applying the negative term "based". By embracing this term, he not only expresses confidence, but a lack of concern as to what those people that would call him "based" in a belittling way think of him. By openly self-applying this derogatory term, he lets the world know that they can't keep him down. Also, by embracing this term, he gets to redefine it however he pleases and "based" is often described as meaning different things in different contexts, including (according to Urban Dictionary) not caring what people think, doing what you want, having many girls, swagging to the maximum, etc. It becomes a source of power instead of a source of oppression.
