Oh i see now, so you cut out the place where the orange tape would go in the black/purple tape. It's a really good idea actually, i may try it thanks. =D

Yep, exactly. It looks awesome, but it wasn't really that difficult. The hardest part is holding the ruler firm enough so it doesn't slip while you're cutting it with a razor blade. Good luck!

so did i, my grip jobs on my boards were always awesome, i can get really clean cuts on scooters, but cant get around the headtube and brake area, so i just do a square

It's much easier if you make a template out of paper (or an old grip tape backing) and then cut the grip tape with scissors. Harbor Freight sells cheap utility scissors that work well. If you have stock grip tape on your deck, when you peel it off, use that to cut your template from.

well i was going to do something like this with my old rup grip tape that covered the whole scooter, but it peeled off in pieces so i couldnt trace it on to a new piece.
