Lens Hood, Is it necessary?

I just got a opteka Titanium Series 0.3X HD Ultra Fisheye and i was testing it and theres no vig at all on my camera but i was wondering if i would be able to see more if i removed the lens hood? And does the lens hood protect the camera alot? would you recommend doing it?

lolwut. All it does is get in the way, taking it off isn't going to change anything unless it gets in the video.

By the point you see the lens hood in the shot there's already going to be black corners from the edges of the lens itself.

jason, you'll be fine. but leave the sunshade on the fisheye, it helps protect it.

if you can take care of stuff, take the sunshade off, because it will only be a pain in the ass when you screw it on and its not correctly aligned. Also use spacers and get some vig or else its not going to be wide at all, unless your filming in HD

same opinion, and probably what he meant. but to whoever, its called a sunshade, not a lens hood
