Editing software?

Hey, I'm getting a new laptop in a couple of weeks, so I thought it would be time to change over from windows movie maker. I have always edited on it, including this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s855ekaSh68&feature=youtube_gdata_player , but I fancy something a little better. I don't mind paying, just not a ridiculous amount. I've been told Sony vegas/adobe after effects, but what would you recommend, where can I get it and how much?

Check out Vegas Movie Studio 12 Suite, its basicly the small bro of sony vegas, same interfaces and all that crap, just missing some advanced features, not much tbh, and its like 85 gbp or something?

Not at all. Ive downloaded it on over 10 different computers, its pretty easy. But, if your not that good with computers it may be a tad bit hard.. that's why you have the youtube video to guide you.

Dell is eh.
The specs though are great, I use a MacBook with 1gb ram and 180gb hard drive and it's faster than my custom windows computer
