Sealed are definitely smooth, quieter and more solid but not always faster. But the more you ride them the faster they get as the cartridge bearings slowly break in.

If you want to do it cheap just buy some 1-1/8" 4130 tubing like .083" wall, take it to a welder, have them cut the threaded part off and TIG weld a new threadless forktube on. Then you save a bunch of money that you can spend on something else like compression.

I think 1-3/8" should be the max OD for any bars though just as a standard... the rest doesn't matter.

Yea, the SCS is 1-3/8" so it works there. I also just liked the idea of getting away from "telescoping" tubes cause then you have the freedom to experiment with different wall thickness that wouldn't have been possible before. EDIT: Yes, please.

That is basically how the SCS started then I took it a step further and combined the shim with the clamp and yea. I keep forgetting to take pics of the other bars I have. They were basically my version of the "vultures" but no bends and no sweep.
