Yeah this happens to me if I tighten it ultra tight(I have an s-3) if you just hammer the cups in, this will happen. However, if you cover them with a thin pillow or a rolled up sheet, the pillow will absorb some of the impact, and your headset will go in perfectly with no scratches or bends...
