You would have to cut it or drill it. I drilled mine since I bought it used and it was stripped. Really easy to drill. I use a bolt and nut now.

Exactly. Use the top cap that comes with the threadless headset. The threads on the fork may make it hard to slide the cap down the fork.

No you won't. Your forks will be slightly weaker as the threads make them thinner. It will be fine.
