Well he mentioned his fork and compression but not a headset, alot of people make the mistake of not getting a threadless headset.

The spokes were nearly broken anyway and the creaking was pissing me off really bad Deff do it.

Have you got a threadless headset and headset spacers too? Otherwise it won't work. You could cut the fork but you still need a threadless headset
