30p, is 30 progressive frames per second. normally miniDV footy is 60i, or 60 interlaced frames per second. basically 30p makes your footage more film-like i guess, but its easier/cleaner on the web than what normal 24p is (24p is what film uses). the hv20 shoots 24p and reg 60i i think. idk...
